Sophia Herring is an Arts & Culture Writer, Journalist, and Editor based in New York City.

Herring grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She studied Architecture and Art History as an undergrad. After school, she worked as Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief at Architectural Digest, and then as an Associate Editor. During her time at AD, Herring published over 120 pieces across all verticles (print, AD Classic, Clever, AD PRO, ADIY). She primarily focused on news stories, art, fashion, home tours, and profiles. She was also in charge of writing AD’s bi-weekly industry-focused newsletter. In 2022, she left to pursue freelance before returning to graduate school. Since then, she has continued to write for AD, as well as The Guardian, The New York Times, T Magazine, GQ, The Art Newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, HyperAllergic, Upstate Diary, Domino, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. She also oversees the editorial at Palo Gallery for their catalogs and art-focused publication. She continues to freelance while pursuing her Master of Arts at Columbia University’s School of Journalism in their Arts and Culture concentration for experienced journalists.
